🏹 Yumiko – Kyūdō Practice In Spring 🏹

‘In stillness, she draws. In silence, she releases.’

The first figurine of this month is now complete! Here are the final renders!

This was one of the most subtle and challenging poses I’ve ever worked on. Every movement and pause in Kyūdō has a precise meaning. I didn’t want to try and just copy a drawing pose, so I did a lot of research and tried to learn the movements.

I really enjoyed creating the traditional clothing. All the layered fabric, the pinching caused by straps, and how they interact with the body added a lot of small directionality to the fabric.

The large Sakura tree base also pushed me technically this month. Figuring out how to create flowers and a tree but still ensuring printability took quite a bit of problem solving.

And just for a little bit of added story telling I decided to sculpt a practice target. So, when you display her you can set it up as if she is shooting!

The STL files for this figurine will be sent directly to your inbox at the end of the month, alongside the community designed figure I’m currently sculpting!
